Trains
Peterborough has trains in all directions, with direct services to Norwich, Burys St Edmunds, Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge, Stansted Airport, London, Leicester, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham, Lincoln, Doncaster, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness, to name but 20. There are plenty of bargains, e.g. singles to Glasgow start from £13-35.
www.plusbus.info Save money by adding bus travel to your train ticket for either or both ends of your journey, with a PlusBus daily or season ticket. Available for 235 towns and cities. Unfortunately Peterborough’s PlusBus zone only extends as far as Market Deeping, Deeping St James, Newborough and Thorney, and not Crowland. But it may be useful at the other end of your train journey.

www.nationalrail.co.uk for nationwide train times or 08457 48 49 50, 24 hours, daily. For ‘real train time’ information at any UK station click on ‘Live Departures and Arrivals’ or use ‘TrainTracker’ to get a text to your mobile.

There are no booking fees, no charge for posting your tickets, free seat reservations, and for travel on their own services there is a 10% discount for booking online. You can usually book up to 3 months ahead, so take advantage of cheap Advance tickets. It’s usually cheaper to buy singles. Beware that with an Advance ticket you are tied to a particular train.
Cycling

Crowland is close to Peterborough’s Green Wheel cycle route network and on Lincolnshire County Council’s The Deepings cycle route.
