What is Crowland Parish Plan ?
The Crowland Parish Plan gives us an opportunity to say what we want to achieve for our community. Its purpose is to make Crowland a better place to live in the short, medium and long term. The Plan can include anything that is relevant to the people that live and work here, eg transport, recreation, housing, youth provision, protection of our rural community etc.
It will identify what people value, as well as problems and opportunities in the Town. It will quantify how residents want the community to develop and will identify actions needed. All this information will then be incorporated into a public document – the Crowland Parish Plan.

Felt that Crowland’s people and appearance was its biggest asset. That was the findings of the Crowland Parish Plan’s initial survey, conducted over the summer. The most common responses included community spirit, friendly people, village and rural character and the open spaces as what they liked best about the town.
Development of the town, and provision for children and young people emerged as the two areas where people felt Crowland could improve, closely followed by community safety and leisure as other issues needing attention.
In total 152 people responded to the survey. “Though this was fewer than we hoped for, we were really pleased with the cross-section of the community that responded, with most of the age categories being well represented,” the Parish Plan’s Steering Group commented.
“We’re particularly pleased with the number of young people (11 to 17) that responded, and what was perhaps a little surprising is that their concerns were broadly the same as the other age groups.”

Those surveyed were also asked what they thought could be improved at little or no costs. The Parish Plan Steering Group admit that this was a question that many felt challenging, but felt it would be interesting to see what came up. The entire list will be looked at in terms of feasibility, with the Parish Council and other agencies, but a selection are printed below:
Aim of the plan
The aim of the Parish Plan is to create a document that captures the views and aspirations of the community, which can be used by community groups or the parish council to draw funding and resources into the community.
Though its name suggests otherwise, the Plan is not developed by the parish council, but by volunteers from across the community.

We’re very conscious that Crowland is quite isolated within Lincolnshire, with centres such as Deeping and Holbeach being difficult for some to get to. Peterborough is more of a natural centre for some of the population, for work, shopping or recreation.
